Tiernan Greyharrow
A seasoned warrior, former master of illusion and reluctant hero, Tiernan carries the scars of a life spent serving others. Quiet, disciplined and fiercely loyal, he becomes Princess Kailua’s protector as Ramorea stands on the brink of war.
Kailua Thalorain
Strong-willed, compassionate and unafraid to challenge tradition, Kailua is the daughter of King Alaric. Her journey forces her to balance royal duty with the lives and loyalties of those closest to her.
Carinar Vale
A thoughtful Cobra and dedicated scholar of forgotten magic, Carinar seeks understanding where others see only danger. Though he shares Calderon’s surname, Carinar is related to him by neither blood nor ambition.
Darrin Thalorain
Heir to the throne. Kailua’s older brother, Darrin is a practical leader who places the survival of Ramorea above personal ambition. His trust in Tiernan is founded upon years of friendship and shared battles.
Alaric Thalorain
The ageing King of Ramorea is a thoughtful ruler shaped by sacrifice, responsibility and decades of uneasy peace. Beneath his authority lies a father determined to leave his children a realm worth inheriting.
Calderon Vale
The powerful and calculating head of the Golden Snakes, Calderon believes illusionists should shape the future of Ramorea rather than remain servants of the Crown. His intelligence, ambition and mastery of deception make him a dangerous political opponent.

Kale Arden
A dependable soldier who gradually grows into a capable leader. His easy manner conceals courage, loyalty and a strong instinct for protecting ordinary people.
Brand Halen
The good-humoured youngest of Tiernan’s companions, Brand is earnest, brave and eager to prove that he belongs among more experienced soldiers. His loyalty leaves a lasting mark upon everyone who fights beside him.
Serilda Kestrel
The formidable commander of the White Guard, Serilda is direct, disciplined and renowned for her courage in battle. She demands strength from those around her while never asking them to face a danger she would not confront herself.
Kayos Trenhal
A hardened soldier and survivor of Cadrick, Kayos hides old wounds beneath dry humour and quiet determination. Though the past weighs heavily upon him, his courage is revealed most clearly when the lives of others are at risk.
Ralore Fenwick
A veteran knight and one of Tiernan’s oldest friends, Ralore combines battlefield experience with unwavering loyalty. He remains a dependable presence when plans fail and others begin to falter.
Pirate Lord Varek
The feared ruler of Blacktide Cove, Varek commands through strength, reputation and the unforgiving traditions of the Tidal Law. Ruthless but not without honour, he understands that survival sometimes requires alliances no pirate would openly welcome.
Alissa Veyne
