Factions Of Ramorea
Discover the diverse factions that shape the world of Ramorea. Each faction has its own unique history, culture, and ambitions. Explore their stories and learn how they contribute to the epic tapestry of the Ramorea Chronicles.

Black Swans
Elite. Unbreakable. Loyal only to the Crown.
The Black Swans are Ramorea’s most feared fighting force, an elite order sworn to protect the royal family and to serve as the kingdom’s shock troops in times of war. Unlike the politically entangled White Guard, the Black Swans answer only to the monarch. Their black cloaks and swan-crested armor are symbols of silent resolve, discipline, and sacrifice.
They fight in tight, precise formations and are often deployed where the danger is greatest, bridges, breaches, citadels, and battle lines on the brink of collapse. Every Swan is hand-selected from the finest soldiers of the realm and trained to the edge of human endurance.

White Guard
The defenders of the cities, fortresses, and roads of Ramorea.
The White Guard is the primary military force of the kingdom, funded by the realm’s treasury and tasked with keeping peace across the land. They protect the great cities, man fortresses like Cadrick and Glasnost, and respond first to threats along the borders.
Though they are sworn to the Crown, the White Guard is heavily influenced by the Council of Nobles, creating tension between politics and duty. Their white cloaks and polished shields represent the authority of law and the protection of the common people.
Strong, disciplined, and honour-bound, the White Guard is the backbone of Ramorea’s defense.

Golden Snakes
Magi, historians, and manipulators of perception.
The Golden Snakes are an ancient order dedicated to the study of illusion, forgotten magic, and the hidden histories of Ramorea. Once revered as true Magi, their power faded after the dragons fell into their long sleep. What remains is a dangerous blend of wisdom, secrecy, and subtle influence.
Students rise through ranks, Adder, Boa, Viper, and finally Cobra, mastering the arts of illusion. Their headquarters, the Academy in Rilaten, houses ancient scrolls that few believe and fewer truly understand.
The order’s Snake crest symbolizes knowledge that coils unseen around the world.
Some Snakes are scholars.
Some are spies.
All are a weapon.

Pirates
On the southwest coast of Ramorea lies Blacktide Cove, a pirate city carved into cliffs and caves facing the stormy Southern Sea. Here gather renegades, smugglers, runaway soldiers, exiled nobles, and those fleeing the law. Ships fly skull-and-serpent banners, and deals are struck in smoky taverns where truth is optional and betrayal is a local art form.
Blacktide pirates are feared for their mastery of coastal raids and lightning strikes on trade ships. Their leaders form shifting alliances, and the strongest captain commands the fleet, until someone stronger takes their place.
The pirates are the only ones who dare sail near the Isle of Virex, where legends say treasures—and nightmares—sleep under the molten rock.
